attentive, reflective, and honest confidant
Gianna Basurto, Graduate Intern
You are struggling to figure out what to do to help your child. You start to question how to help your child effectively communicate with you and others. It can be tough to face social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties your child is displaying alone. Play therapy can be a great addition to your child’s development, letting them express themselves freely and helping you as a parent gain the skills to help them outside of sessions.
As a counseling intern supervised by Latasha Teamer, MS, LPC-S, LMFT, I have a passion for working with children and families. I believe in the importance of providing a safe place for children to feel seen, heard, and accepted while they work to create healthy change.
My goal in sessions is to prioritize trust in the therapeutic relationship and equip you and your child to work through life’s challenges. I have experience in sand play therapy, music and art techniques, and direct and indirect play therapy skills. I will help your child deal with emotional expression, problem-solving, behavioral improvements, social skills, self-esteem, and trauma processing.
If you are ready to empower your child’s journey, navigate life’s challenges, and provide them with the support they need, I are here for you.
