Tween and Teen Therapy

You look at your teen and wonder how they became someone that you barely recognize. Mood swings, power struggles, and their growing desire to be more independent without proper guidance have been difficult to manage. You don’t want to treat your teen like a child, but they are a child.

The changes in your teen’s behavior have completely disrupted how they manage daily life. They’re now using words like stressed, anxious, or depressed to describe how they’re feeling. Balancing the responsibilities of school, home, and extra-curricular activities, while maintaining a healthy social life add to their pressure. It’s hard enough that they are trying to find their identity and where they “fit” in this world.

At HOPE, we offer tweens and teens a safe and judgement free space where they can be themselves and spill the tea.

Our expert tween and teen counselors recognize and respond to the effects of prolonged stress, help your teen navigate social norms within their peer groups, eliminate maladaptive emotional responses, identify values that help shape their identities, heal from the aftermath of teen drama, and grow in their independence in a healthy way.

We understand that teenage years can be tough, so we meet your teen where they are and create a roadmap for where you want them to be. We partner with you to establish relevant goals and provide monthly progress meetings to share our clinical observations and hear your parental observations regarding the established treatment plan goals.

To ensure trust in the counseling relationship and to help your teen reach their goals, we stress the importance of confidentiality to both you and your teen. Creating a safe space for your teen requires an appropriate level of privacy with their teen counselor. What is said in their sessions, stays in their sessions, with a few exceptions that you and your teen’s counselor will discuss during your first meeting. The safe and trusting environment that is created through privacy in the counseling relationship is necessary for therapeutic change to occur.

We work intentionally with your teen to ensure they feel safe to openly discuss their troubling circumstances, and we work closely with you to ensure that you feel confident in our ability to create change in one of your most precious assets.
